Our Mission
NBCU LAUNCH believes in the enduring power of authentic storytelling.
When a person sees themselves and their story reflected onscreen, it has the power to validate their emotions, experiences and identity.
Compelling storytelling is also a vehicle through which people from different walks of life can come together to build a deeper understanding of and profound empathy for each other.
At our core, we cultivate, curate, and elevate the next generation of storytellers for our viewers to experience these inspirational and aspirational moments. Our goal is create lasting and meaningful change in the television industry by giving talent from a variety of backgrounds, including underrepresented voices, access to substantive opportunities in front of and behind the camera. This includes talent from various socio-economic backgrounds, geographic locations, racial and ethnic backgrounds, people with disabilities, the LGBTQ+ community and veterans, among other communities.
We accomplish this by creating and implementing our talent development programs; sourcing high potential, qualified talent to be considered for available positions on our shows; and leveraging partnerships with key advocacy organizations.
Our efforts extend across NBCUniversal’s entertainment television portfolio. This includes the company’s broadcast, cable and streaming networks – NBC, Bravo, E!, Oxygen True Crime, SYFY, Universal Kids, USA, and Peacock – as well as Universal Studio Group – which comprises four powerhouse studios, Universal Television, Universal Content Productions (UCP), Universal International Studios and Universal Television Alternative Studio.

Props Assistant, Local 44
NBCU LAUNCH BTL Traineeship – Props Trainee (Bel-Air, Angelyne)
When was the first time you saw yourself represented on screen?
I find that there has been a lack of representation of women and women of color in all aspects of entertainment. There was never a time when I thought, "Wow, that’s me or I’d like to be like her." As I’ve grown up and started working in the industry, it’s become more about me helping to change that and be part of projects that have that impact for others.
When was the first time you saw yourself represented on screen?
Don't take no for an answer no matter how many times you've been rejected. If you want it and are capable, you can make it happen.
Who or what has been the greatest influence on you as a creator?
The women I’ve met working in the field, doing what I’m doing and reaching success, have had a tremendous influence on me. They've shown me that I can do this, that I can be successful doing what I love and can make my goals and dreams come true. We tend to have these notions that dreams about what we want to be when we grow up are not practical or realistic. Clearly that is not true.
Who would you like to collaborate with in the next 5 years?
Everyone! There are so many trailblazers I would love to collaborate with. However, Sophia Coppola is one of my favorites because she makes films how she wants to and doesn't care what people have to say about it.
Next TV you can’t wait to binge?
Interview with the Vampire on AMC! I’m a bibliophile and proud of it. Anne Rice is a favorite author of mine.
Rosie’s Credits
I cannot express how valuable it was to be part of the NBCU BTL traineeship. Being able to get actual experience on union productions and expand my union portfolio was so helpful. I got a head start in building my network and hands on work experience that prepared me for when I was accepted in to the union. I hope more people get the chance to be part of the Traineeship and get that union experience because it really helps prepare you for a career in physical production and who wouldn’t want that type of help? –Rosie
